On Saturday, after some morning rain, we decided to explore some streets that have access to the Gowanus Canal. Even we found a deck to take a canoe for a row… well I will think about that twice but it’s quite interesting to see all kind of boats around this canal. One of then had a name that I like a lot “The Gowanus Monitor”, all covered with tags probably still serves well to somebody that really monitors these waters.
The Gowanus Canal is sadly pretty toxic and there are some some organizations that are working hard to clean-up its waters, such The Gowanus Canal Conservancy and you can also become part of this process signing YES to the Petition to Superfund Designation for the Gowanus Canal. I just signed and send the petition to some friends, please do the same.
After a walk we decided to enter to a big empty lot on 3rd Ave and 3rd Street, and we were fascinated with the graffiti that covers all the walls. Was a cloudy day and the pictures look quite nice because of the lighting conditions. ENJOY!
